about

A series dedicated to tales of terror that take place in the oft weird and wonderful great outdoors:

"Lukundoo" by American author Edward Lucas White, first appeared in Weird Tales Magazine in November 1925. In this terrifying tale of body horror, an intrepid explorer incurs the wrath of a witch doctor, in deepest Africa.

"The Interlopers" is a short story by British author, Saki. The tale takes place in the dramatic Carpathian Mountains of Eastern Europe, wherein a pair of feuding landowners vow to put an end to one another.

"The Death of Halpin Frayser" is a short story by American author, Ambrose Bierce. The tale tells of a man, who, out in the wilderness, apparently dies at the hands of his deceased mother.

"The Hunt" is a short story by British writer, Jennifer Gill. The tale tells of a young lady’s first hunt of the season, across the sprawling Elderwood Estate, in North Yorkshire.

"Genius Loci" is a short story by American writer, Clark Ashton Smith, which first appeared in the June 1933 edition of Weird Tales Magazine. The tale tells of a painter’s strange account of a meadow he felt compelled to draw.

"Demons of the Sea" is a short story by British author, William Hope Hodgson. The tale tells of ship’s terrifying encounter with something altogether monstrous, in the humid, sea mists.

"The Horror of the Heights" is a short story by British author, Arthur Conan Doyle. The tale is told through the blood-stained pages of a notebook found on the edge of a farm, which tells of a strange flight into the jungles of the upper air.
